Community Dairy Development Program (CDDP)

In Pakistan, agriculture share in GDP is 21.4 % out of which 55.4 % is contributed by Livestock. Pakistan is the 3rd largest country in animal population. Livestock provides cash flow to farmers to meet the day to day expenses of their family and hence play a pivotal role in running their economy. In 2013, Community Dairy Development Program (CDDP) has been started in District Lodhran to build sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable communities living in poverty. The CDDP addresses the needs of marginalized groups including women in rural areas. It seeks to reduce poverty , promote gender equality and build financial resilience of communities by developing and enhancing the livelihood opportunities through Dairy Development

• Advisory services for animal housing
• Advisory services for Animal Nutrition
• Advisory services for Animal Health
• Advisory services for Animal Breed
• Provision of Farmer Extension Services trainings (Farmer Discussion Group, Farmer Field Day)
• Formation of Community Based Organizations (CBO, Milk Cooperatives)
• Linkage development with Market, Financial Institutions and Milk processors.
• Exposure visits
• All kind of treatment of sick animals at their door steps.
• Artificial insemination for both buffalo and cow with local and imported semen as well, for breed improvement.
• De worming for control of endo and endo parasites
• Seasonal vaccination for control of out breaks of FMD, HS and ETV like diseases.
• Provision of mineral mixtures to tackle the deficiency of mineral elements.
• All medicines are provided to farmers at invoice price and services are free of cost.
