Lodhran Pilot Project and Bahauddin Zakariya University Sign A 3 Year MOU For Cooperation
September 14, 2020 – Multan: Public Private Partnerships are key to achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and resolve the issues faced by the Pakistan. Partnerships between educational institutions and development organisations is crucial because educational institutions are think tanks highlighting challenges and issues faced by the youth. While it is the responsibility of development organisations to engage young people and enable them through participation in different programmes to find solutions to these challenges, speaking on the MOU signing ceremony, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Saboor, CEO Lodhran Pilot Project (LPP) said.
Lodhran Pilot Project and Bahauddin Zakariya University has signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate in different areas including knowledge exchange and mutual capacity building and research. Lodhran Pilot Project will support Bahauddin Zakariya University to nurture leadership skills of young people and strengthen previously formed Peace Clubs and Students’ Societies by LPP.
Furthermore, LPP will provide all technical and logistic support to BZU in conceiving, designing and implementing different projects to form students’ clubs and societies. These clubs and societies will play a pivotal role in promoting peace and social cohesion. LPP through these clubs and societies will mentor young people by imparting important life-skills, peace building through sports programmes, safe charity, and communication skills and how to set up and run a students’ society.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi of Bahauddin Zakariya University praised the efforts of Lodhran Pilot Project for ongoing cooperation with BZU in different areas. Speaking on the occasion, he said that LPP has provided the students different opportunities of professional trainings in the past and we hope that LPP will continue the same consideration towards the welfare of students in future.
Tahir Mehmood, Resident Officer, BZU said in his address that we have a wonderful experience of working with LPP and currently LPP is disinfecting the BZU premises for a safe reopening of the university.
Lodhran Pilot Project, through its “WASH Response in Communities Affected by COVID-19” programme with the support of UNICEF Pakistan is equipped with trainings to prepare Sodium Hypochlorite solution and WATA kit, has disinfected the classrooms, conference halls, administration offices and university premises to ensure a safe re-opening for students.
