“Building Disaster Resilience in Pakistan” project of Lodhran Pilot Project with the support of Concern Worldwide and UKaid successfully completed its term in district Jhang. An Achievement Sharing Workshop was organised by the BDRP project which was attended by the government officials, partner organisations including representatives of UN agencies and international NGOs working in Jhang and local parliamentarians Rana Shahbaz Ahmed, Member Provincial Assembly & Parliamentary Secretary of Livestock and Agriculture Punjab and Mr. Faisal Hayat Jabboana Member Provincial Assembly Punjab were the guests of honor of the ceremony. The project helped to improve infrastructure by construction of roads and model shelter houses in flood affected communities, enhance employability skills, educate communities on Climate Smart Agriculture & kitchen gardening, raise awareness on hygiene & hazards of open defecation and community emergency response. The project overall reached more than 100,000 beneficiaries in under-privileged communities of district Jhang.

BDRP through its COVID-19 Response helped district administration to disinfect public places and donated 20 handwashing facilities with hygiene kits. The project reached 2351 families through cash grants of more than 18 million rupees.

Target communities have effective disaster risk management structures in place to take up and advocate resilience building measures

Target communities and households are prepared to

a) cope with climate related natural disasters and
b) adopt risk reduction measures

Target communities & households are introduced to sustainable livelihoods and environmental management practices for resilience building
