16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence

The importance of men’s constructive engagement to promote gender equality and prevent violence against women in society is an undeniable fact. Men, through their positive role in community, have the potential to bring about change in attitudes, roles and access to resources and decision making. I urge Pakistani men to take individual and united actions, so that women and girls can live free from harassment, harmful practices, and all other forms of violence. Violence remains a major barrier to women’s inclusion and participation at all levels. We must endorse women’s political, social, economic and cultural rights and bring on a priority policy agenda.

Ali Khan Tareen, President, Lodhran Pilot Project

The 16 Days of Activism is a call to action to take steps to question and speak up against gender based violence in our society. We must promote a culture without violence; a culture that does not allow or accept any type of violence against women and girls. Its time to rewrite the narratives of justice and power for women and adopt a Human Rights approach towards women rights. At Lodhran Pilot Project, we recognize and promote equal rights and equal opportunities for women and girls to break the cycle of discrimination and prevent violence.
