It was very disappointing moment when Sharefa said to her daughter to discontinue study as she had no more resource for her study. Being the sole bread winner for her family, she was struggling very hard to look after her family but due to continuous work. She was losing her eyesight day by day.
Sharifa bibi 38, lives in Janobi colony village of district Lodhran. Her husband is drug addict and unable to earn for his family containing two sons and three daughters. Sharifa always thinks about possible solutions to get rid of such difficult situation. She tried her best for husband to quit drug addiction but in vain. She was facing extreme poverty and situation was going bad to worse. She started some embroidery work at home to take care of her family. After some time, she felt difficulty in doing embroidery work because of her extremely weak eyesight.
She forced her 10-year-old daughter to discontinue her education and help her mother in embroidery work. Her daughter was very upset but she didn’t have any other option. She prayed to God to help her as she want to continue her study.
Another day, Sharifa’s family member told her about Free Eye Camp organized by LPP She was so excited to have an opportunity for the treatment of eyes that could contribute to enhance her income resources. During her checkup she told doctor at eye camp about her blurred vision from right eye. After detailed checkup, doctor diagnosed cataract problem and prescribed operation. Next day, doctor operated her right eye free of cost.
After surgery, her eyesight was being improved and she was feeling better vision. For few days, she adopted all precautionary measures recommended by doctor.
Now sharifa has clear vision and she has started her embroidery work and her income is being increase day by day. Her daughter gets readmission in school and she has resumed her study. “I am quite happy after having my clear vision and very thankful to LPP for providing services for the poor. Now my daughter has been studying in school and my income resources are sufficient”. Like Sharifa, hundreds of people are being cured at free eye camp organized by LPPfor sustainable livelihood.
